AmeriCorps History

AmeriCorps is the national service movement that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards and real world experience in exchange for a year or two of community service. Members may serve up to four terms of service (only eligible for two education awards).

AmeriCorps members help meet the nation's critical needs in the areas of public safety education, human needs, and the environment. The AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team, in Butler County has been an AmeriCorps program since 1997.

The AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team partners with all Butler County schools (pre-school through high school) and is involved with community centers and events (Safe Harbor, Relay for Life, Hank Williams Festival, Old Time Farm Day, Dunbar Parks & Recreation and the Georgiana Public Library).
