Metal Sculpture Showcase Metal Showcase Sculpture Flyer

Butler County Fine Arts Club Presents Metal Sculpture Showcase featuring original sculptures by students. The Showcase will be May 15, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Greenville High School Atrium.

ACT Test Date Postponed

Due to inclement weather, the ACT test  scheduled for December 9, 2017 has been canceled.  An announcement will be made when a new date is scheduled. 

 

 

 

FY'18 Assessment

Student Support and Adademic Enrichment Grant Needs Assessment

 

BCSS has been awarded a Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grant (SSAEG) of $39,750. Because the grant is over $30,000, we must allocate at least 20% for well-rounded education, at least 20% for safe and healthy students, and a portion to support the use of technology. Requirements to access this award include completing a Needs Assessment that focuses on allowable activities of the Student and Academic Enrichment Grant. Please assist us in this process by completing the SSAEG Needs Assessment link above by Thursday, November 9th.

Schools Resume Normal Schedule

Per Superintendent John Strycker, all Butler County Schools will be open on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.  We look forward to your return to school/work.   Have a safe evening.

School Closure

All Butler County Schools will be closed on Monday, September 11, 2017 due the threat of severe weather associated with Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irma.  Additional notifications will be provided on Monday regarding when classes will resume.

BCSS June ACT Cram Session

The Butler County School System June ACT Cram Session will be held June 6th & 7th at Greenville High Library. Math & Science session will be on June 6th from 9 AM to 12 PM. Reading & English will be held on June 7th from 9 AM to 12 PM. You MUST register to attend by clicking on the link below.

BCCA Student Showcase BCCA Showcase Flyer

The Butler County Career Academy would like to invite you to join us for an exciting evening on Thursday, January 11th for our second nine weeks Career Tech student showcase. The event will take place in the Greenville High School cafeteria from 5;30 pm- 6:30 pm. During the showcase we will recognize and honor students and also offer tours of the Butler County Career Academy Programs. On Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 5:30 pm the Butler County Career Academy will recognize students who have earned credentials, certifications, and/or college credits. Their outstanding work, leadership, and dedication for third nine weeks will also be recognized. The showcase will be held in the Greenville High Cafeteria.

Butler County School System Approves Alternative School for Next Year

The Butler County Board of Education held their regular Board meeting for May Thursday night in the Central Office Board Room.  Highlighting the meeting was approval of an Alternative School Program for the 2018-19 school year.

Career & Technical Student Showcase BCCA Flyer

All parents and students of Butler County Career Academy, please join us for an exciting evening Thursday, October 26th from 5:30 - 6:30 pm in the Greenville High Cafeteria. Students will showcase their work from 1st 9 weeks. Some students will be recognized and honored for their outstanding achievements. Senior students and parents are invited to attend a free Financial Aid Workshop. 

Free Vaccination Clinic for BCSS Students

HNH Immunizations will be on school campuses on Friday, March 9th to offer students free Tdap (tetanus, diptheria & pertussis), Meningococcal and Human Papilloma virus vaccines. Consent forms will be sent home the week of February12th and returned to each school nurse so that appropriate vaccine records can be attached to the signed consent forms.  This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get needed vaccines without the parent having to arrange for them to go to their physician or to the Health Department.

Butler County School System Discusses Budget – a Proactive Approach

The Butler County Board of Education held their regular Board meeting for April Thursday night in the Central Office Board Room.  Highlighting the meeting was a discussion about the district’s finances and budget.

Bright Beginnings Pre-K Openings Available Bright Beginnings

Butler County School System’s Bright Beginnings Preschool Program still has openings for new students at the Greenville and Georgiana School sites. This is a nationally recognized, tuition free preschool program for children who are four years old by September 1.  Interested parents/guardians may contact Mrs. Catherine Tanner at 334-382-2665, ext. 1208 or by e-mail to obtain an application or additional information.

Registration will be on February 15, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the McKenzie School Office. Paper registration forms will becompleted onsite.  The school system will enter them into the state online database. In order to be entered, you must have your child’s social security card, birth certificate, immunization card and 1 proof of residency

Georgiana Track Team Achieves Historical Wins at State Track Meet

The Georgiana School boys’ track team placed 6th out of 48 teams in the 1-A division at the State Track Meet held in Cullman, Alabama on May 4-5, 2018. 

Christopher Mixon became the first state champion in Georgiana School history by winning the gold medal in the long jump (21’ 1.75”).

BCCA Parent Night BCCA Parent night

Parents and students in grades 8th thru 11th are invited to come and review our Career Tech programs on May 3, 2018 at 5:30 pm in the Greenville High School cafeteria. Students who have signed up to take any Career Tech course next year, your attendance is mandatory. This meeting will give students and parents the opportunity to meet the teachers, register for Dual Enrollment, and learn more about the expectations for next year. BCCA Students Take a Trip of Lifetime BCCA welding students

This week, the Butler County Career Tech Welding Students are taking a trip of their lifetime by traveling to Lenoir, North Carolina to visit  some large manufacturing companies as part of a hands-on experience for the kids.

Georgiana Boys’ Track Team Brings Home Gold Medals in Sectional Meet Georgiana track meet

Georgiana School’s track team continued its winning season as Martavius Payton won the first gold medal for Georgiana in the high jump and LeCedric Haynes following with another gold medal in the shot put competition.  LeCedric is now ranked number one in the state 1A division for the shot put.

Georgiana Track Team Amongst Top Division I-A Teams in State Georgiana Crest

Georgiana School’s newly established track team participated in its second official competition on April 5, 2018 at T. R. Miller High School in Brewton, Alabama.

The boys track team placed 4th out of 19 teams participating.  They were 1st in the 1-A division.  The three teams ahead of them were powerhouses Tate of Pensacola, T. R. Miller of Brewton and Class 3-A Excel High School.

Georgiana Boys' Track Team Wins 1st Place in 1A Teams Division

Georgiana School’s track team continues its successful season as the boys’ track team placed 7th out of 23 teams participating at a meet in Troy this past weekend.  Once again, they won 1st place in the 1-A division.
